Ambient Dreams for Sleep-Deprived Teens originated in 2019 as a radio comedy show for the Yale Department of Music’s Radio History class. Now, in the era of Covid-19, a worldwide recession, irreversible climate change, and political uncertainty, the inadequacies of individual responses to systemic challenges have been laid bare; although an increasingly unlivable world motivates self-care, self-care alone cannot address the conditions that render the world unlivable. On the bright side, the global transition to the digital sphere provides a convenient opportunity to adapt auditory material for the theatrical world. Thus, we have reimagined Ambient Dreams as an immersive audiovisual experience, while retaining the randomness and biting satire of the original.
